False allegations against Herbert Armstrong Disproven

Since the mid-1970s I have read all sorts of allegations made against Mr Armstrong which were never proven because they are not true.

The rumours have persisted and have been addressed in several articles below. Alas, these allegations have never been ‘put to rest’ because there are those that persist in perpetrating defamation.

Other evangelists and leading ministers (and members) have similarly been falsely accused or exaggerated about. Remember that Joseph was falsely accused (Gen 39:11-20); as was Christ (Mark 14:55-56; Matt 9:34; 11:19). Other examples of false allegations are: Num 16:3; Neh 6:6-8; Jer 37:13; 43:2; Amos 7:10; Acts 16:20; 21:28; Rom 3:8. Throw enough mud and it will stick! The consequences to the victim can be horrific. But the liars do not care and are callous. They just want to destroy the other person. Or, in some cases, they want to deflect from their own heinous crimes and sins so that people don't see them.

However, some view ICor 6:1-6 in the wrong way - that one should not take another Christian to court. This Scripture is not negating Government legislation concerning such matters as defamation and slander; murder; assault and such like which should be reported or taken to court. Common sense tells us that. Christians even have to go to law regarding divorce, unfortunately.

Questions to ask about such serious and disgusting allegations are:

1. Where is the proof? Was Mr Armstrong (or others) ever confronted with these claims or was it done via a whisper campaign behind his/their back?

2. Claims that there is paperwork or records – these must be shown to the victim. Are these falsified records or fraudulent documents that are supposed to exist?

3. Was there a false arrest and pressure to admit to something not done, under duress and stress? Or names mixed up by the accusers? Did the authorities add to any existing records they had against him to blight his name?

4. Is it legal to steal or leak documents with the false claims?

5. When found out, should these people be sued or reported to the police? Did HWA pursue legal actions? I have heard nothing about this so it was probably done quietly so as not to shame the Work.

Defamation is a serious crime and can result in jail for the lying, slanderous offender. Some got off ‘scot-free’ while the mud slung at Mr Armstrong has stuck. The articles above will wash the mud off and prove Mr Armstrong is not guilty of the accusations. But those involved with defamation will always cover for each other, thereby engaging in criminal activity themselves.

May Mr Armstrong’s name be cleared by these articles.
