Fellowship: Mark of a True Christian

  Koinonia is the Greek word for fellowship. This short study examines the importance of proper fellowship to a believer.

Does fellowship result from having God’s spirit? Acts 2:42-47.

Contrariwise, is separating oneself the mark of NOT having God’s Spirit? Jude 18-19.

Does God’s Spirit generally come to groups, or to individuals? Philippians 2:1 describes the fellowship of the Spirit. We all share in the receipt of the Spirit, we all share in its gifts.

 

Should the Basis for Fellowship Be Our Fellowship With God?

I Corinthians 1:9 mentions the fellowship of Jesus Christ.

I John 1:3 Can we have meaningful fellowship with each other unless we have fellowship with the Father?

I John 1:6-7 You cannot have fellowship with God if you are walking contrary to Him. If we all are walking in the light, we will have true fellowship with each other.

 

Is Fellowship Always Fun?

Do we have to partake of Christ’s sufferings in order to know Christ and the power of His resurrection? Philippians 3:8-11 describes the "fellowship of His sufferings." II Corinthians 1:5-7 also indicates that sufferings are part of obtaining the prize (consolation).

 

Are There Serious Responsibilities Involved in Fellowship?

Read II Corinthians 8:1-5, and I Timothy 6:18. Ministering to the saints is helping others in their needs. "Fellowship" means "taking part in" Romans 15:26-27, Hebrews 13:16, Romans 12:13, II Corinthians 9:13.

Do we as individuals have a part in furthering the Gospel? Philippians 1:5.

Can we fellowship with just everyone? I Corinthians 10:20-21, II Corinthians 6:14, Ephesians 5:11-12.

 

What Is the "Right Hand of Fellowship"?

Galatians 2:9 Must have been more than shaking hands. A transfer of responsibility, a ceremony saying, "Go and do this part of God’s work and the Lord be with you."

Is the Passover service an important part of fellowship? I Corinthians 10:16

 

What Does God Want Us to Partake Of?

II Peter 1:4, I Peter 5:1

Is what God has prepared for us like a great supper or wedding feast? Luke 14:15-24 and Matthew 22:2-14.

Is there to be sweet unity? Psalms 133.

 

What Does God Think of Perverse Fellowship?

Leviticus 6:2 mentions a sin in fellowship.

 

Strong Fellowship Can Result from Aversion to Gross Sin

 

Judges 19:29-30; 20:10-11.

In these troublesome times, why is fellowship more important than ever? Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, Hebrews 10:23-25, Malachi 3:16.

 

Is Unity Possible?

Ephesians 4:3, 13, Psalms 133.

Why should you endeavor to obtain something that is impossible? Amos 3:3.
